Frequently asked questions

Is this tattoo font generator free?

Yes. Every font and every download is free, with no sign-up and no daily limit. The preview renders entirely in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded.

Can I use these fonts commercially?

All 33 fonts come from Google Fonts under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which allows commercial use. Check with your artist before reproducing a design, and note that the licence covers the typeface, not a specific arrangement.

What size is the downloaded file?

2400×1500 pixels as a PNG. On skin-tone backgrounds the file includes the colour base; choose the transparent option for a clean black-on-clear file your artist can drop onto a stencil sheet.

Will this look exactly like the final tattoo?

No. This shows the letterforms, spacing and contrast — not how ink settles in your skin. Hand-poked and machine work differ, fine lines thicken over years, and every artist Letterforms differently. Treat the export as a reference sheet, not a finished design.

My artist needs a stencil. Is PNG enough?

For script and lettering pieces, usually yes — most artists trace the printout or cut a stencil from it. Bold high-contrast lettering works best; very thin hairline scripts can lose detail when transferred.
